Dancing in Sunshine and Rainbows

 

 

 

 

The idea behind this painting

is what inspires a child's imagination.

This little barefoot girl,

is pretending she is dancing on the clouds.

Her steps produce raindrops in the sunshine

and the colors reflect off the clouds.

 

The image is all pastel shades

 therefore the values are very similar,

which unfortunately (in the photo)

 doesn't come across as pure and crisp

and full of light, as they are in the painting.

They also appear a bit darker and with faint lines.

Her Secret Garden

 

A little girl and her cute little dog

watch a blue butterfly as it flits around

the flowers she has collected for a bouquet.

Tire Swing

 

 

Where I live there are very tall fir and pine trees,

 but scattered among them are giant old oaks and maples.

These old twin oaks have grown in a neighbors side yard

and been the playground for several generations of children,

who have climbed into their branches and swung from a tire swing.

I began this painting as a plein air because I love the ancient oak trees

and the lovely lights and shadows, 

but felt the tire swing needed a child so I added him in my studio.

Big Wheel

Snuggling With a New Friend

The 3rd in a series
painted from memories of my children's lives.
One of my daughters had a white lop eared rabbit,
she named snuggles.

Flower Child

 Every child  loves flowers.
She will make daisy chains for her hair,
and pick dandelions and lawn daisies,
and bring her mom bouquets
gathered from where ever she found them.

BFF

When my oldest daughter was a child she loved animals. She had a white cat
that she loved very much. I am sure if the saying was popular then,
she would have said she was her Best Friend Forever.
