Stratus Blue Roses

Painted for DPW's Escape the Snow challenge.
Let me explain this painting and how it fits the challenge theme.
First of all, I like snow and don't find I need to escape it.
Second, when I can't paint plein air (outdoors) I paint still lifes indoors.
Third, painting itself is my way of getting away from it all.
I find myself caught up in what I am doing
and that in itself is a form of escape, so to speak.
So my 'escape' was to do this painting.

6" x 8" oil on canvas panel

available on DPW auction
with a starting bid of $30.

Canyon Snow

Second painting for DPW's "Snow Challenge".
A dusting of snow covers the tops and crevices
of the red and ochre canyon rocks.
A lovely portrayal of natures contrasts.

(I have been asked where this might be.
I painted it from a picture I took in Bryce Canyon
(I believe, as I visited several canyons).
It was late fall after an early dusting of snow.)

6" x 8" oil on canvas panel

$35.
available on my DPW Gallery

Snow at the Seacoast

Occasionally it snows on the Oregon beaches.
A white blanket covers the coast,
where the mountains and fir trees meet the sandy beaches,
and sea grass pokes up through the snow.
Such a lovely sight...
