Spring Zepher

Coneflowers always remind me of little umbrellas.
So when I saw a spent blossom being lifted by a breeze,
I imagined that if it was a coneflower
it might just lift up and away.
This thought gave rise to this whimsical painting.

Road at the Tail of the Rocks

Painted for Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout challenge
on the Isle of Man. I chose this scene because of the
many interesting componants. This is a beachfront cottage,
built of thick walls, leaning chimneys, and a thatched roof,
that is literally tied down with rope and weighted down with rocks (windy?).
These elements and the brightly painted red doors and windows,
along with the red canoes made me think this needed
to be painted in a whimsical fashion.

6" x 8" acrylic on canvas panel

$50.
