Canoes and Kayaks at Sunset

Painted this from a combination of two pictures
I took last summer while camping
at beautiful Waldo Lake in Oregon.
It is gorgeous country
that was experiencing terrible wildfires
in various parts of the state,
but created amazing sunsets.

Summer Storm

I painted this landscape using the Zorn palette,
of red, yellow, white and black.
It is my first attempt using his limited palette.
I love the way the colors form and come together
to enrich and compliment each other.
For sure I am going to try this again.

Road at the Tail of the Rocks

Painted for Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout challenge
on the Isle of Man. I chose this scene because of the
many interesting componants. This is a beachfront cottage,
built of thick walls, leaning chimneys, and a thatched roof,
that is literally tied down with rope and weighted down with rocks (windy?).
These elements and the brightly painted red doors and windows,
along with the red canoes made me think this needed
to be painted in a whimsical fashion.
