Blue Butterfly

Don't know the names of either the pale green flowers or the butterfly,
but I really liked both so I put them in a painting.
The butterfly has bluish, semi-transparent wings,
with black outlining which gives them a stained glass window look.

6" x 8" acrylic on canvas panel

$50.

Decided to paint the butterfly in a smaller painting and
submit to DPW "Seeing Double" challenge.

4" x 4" acrylic on linen paper

$35.

Yellow Azaleas and the Old Wash House

Painted for DPW's "Yellow" challenge. I actually saw his scene
on a drive in the beautiful Oregon countryside.
A ramshackle old wash house with a very overgrown garden
with Azalea bushes growing over the roof.
Wet clothes hanging on the clothes lines.

One With Water and Air

Painted this for Dana Marie's Rendition Me This challenge "Canard".
We are to paint a 'rip-off' of the challenge painting,
similar but with our own spin on it.
I wanted to bring out the metaphysical environment
of this duck's life through the water, air and colors.

Geese in Flight

Besides mountains and valleys, high desert and coastlands,
another beautiful natural resource in Oregon is the
bird sanctuaries.
This was painted from a photo of the Klamath wetlands bird sanctuary,
which is host to many species of birds, who flock there in great numbers.

A Summer Garden

A purple finch sits amid the lovely blues and purples
of the Wisteria, and the bright red roses,
of the garden filled with summer blooms.

The Turquoise Pool

I painted this for Dana Marie's Artistic Sentiments's challenge - Turquoise Dreams,
 from a photo she provided
of a rich deep turquoise pool with a rocky background.
She asked that we add something to the painting.
I chose a white heron taking flight.
I also decided to paint mostly with a palette knife,
for the texture achieved on the rocks and bird, and smoother on the water;
with only a small amount of brush work.
I am thinking of painting this on a larger canvas.

The Gardener

Painted for Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout in Gdansk, Poland.
I am not too happy with the way this painting photographed.
The flowers are really a little more yellow, than the gold shown here.

Goldfinch in Lilac Blossoms

The birds are back at our feeder beneath the lilac bush,
but the leaves are just beginning to show.
I painted this in anticipation of the lovely purple blossoms.
