Marigolds

These Marigolds live in a pot on the steps of the front porch,
welcoming visitors with their cheery golden countenances.
I love the way their petals reflect various shades of gold and orange,
and chose to paint them in such a way that this feature stands out.

Low Tide at Sunset

Another Oregon seascape painting.
Along the rocky coastline, there are places
where the low tides leave pools of water among the rocks.
Because of the often misty conditions and low lying fog,
 the sunsets are spectacular.

5" x 7" oil on canvas panel

$35.

Easy Being Green

Painted for DPW's "Green" challenge.
Being spring, when everything is shades of green,
from the moss on the tree trunks, to the new grasses and leaves on the trees,
it was pretty easy to paint this one.
I walk/hike almost everyday in this county park near where I live.
So I took this picture with my phone as I neared the river,
 because I liked the scene;
and used it to paint this painting.

5" x 7" oil on canvas panel

available on DPW auction
with a beginning bid of $30.

Day Lilies

The garden is teeming with pretty yellow day lilies.
They line the walkway and everyday I pass them, admiring their beauty.
They seem to grow in a jungle of flashing gold and green,
so tangled, that I never before thought to paint them - until today.
I am quite pleased with the effort.

$35.

Gardenia in Red Bowl

The subtle colors in the white petals
 of this sweet smelling Gardenia,
is what makes this wonderful flower so spectacular.
It floats in a red lacquer bowl
which sets off the creamy white petals and dark green leaves,
making for a lovely still life.

An Iris for Mom

I painted this for my Mom for Mother's Day;
and used it for DPW's "same size" challenge
where you had to paint something
the same size on support as it is in reality.
Then show the two in your photo.
