Cows and the Red Barn

Painted this scene for DPW "Cows" challenge.
These lovely black cows, mom and baby,
are actually two from a small herd
here on the farm where I live.
I painted the barn outside plein air,
and  have the fir needles in my pochade box
 and paints to prove it,
from the tree I was standing near.

White Barn With Red Tractor

Third in a series of farm paintings.
The white barn merely showcases the old red Farmall tractor.
First time for painting a tractor,
so I tried to keep it simple yet say what it is.

Three Quilts and an Old Barn

This is a redo of the "Barn Hex".
I added two quilts because I felt the painting called for them.
The one by itself just didn't work for me.

Antiques in a Barn

In traveling the country back roads and farm lands,
I frequently would come across an old barn
which had been converted into an Antique shop.
They were wondrous places to poke through for hidden treasures,
but for an artist, they most of all,
make wonderful painting subjects.

Hood River Barn

A fall scene of a red barn
situated in the hills of Hood River below Mt. Hood.
I photographed this on a recent trip
 through the orchards and vineyards
of this lovely valley along the Columbia River.
This painting was done for the DPW Barn challenge.

Country Morning

Plein air painting I did on my roadtrip
of Central Oregon's high desert farm lands.
I particularly liked the misty hills and wonderful light
of the early morning on the landscape.

French Country House

Painted for Lee Brown's A Day Not Wasted May challenge;
from his photo of an old stone farm house in the south of France.
I was reminded of Vincent van Gogh when I saw it
and tried to paint in his style in homage to him.
Following the Masters is always fun and a good learning experience.

November's Bounty

When traveling through the countryside of Washington state,
I frequently came across tables, baskets and boxes
of various types of produce set out at the entrance of the farm drive.
An honor box and sign with the cost were provided
so that passers-by could stop and make a purchase.
