Fireweed

Fireweed is one of my favorite wildflowers
(also I love the honey made from these flowers).
I painted this from a photo I took this summer of fireweed,
growing in a mountain meadow.
I decided to paint it more abstractly
to emphasize the rich pale violet color of these pretty flowers.

Wildflowers 2

A second entry for DPW Wildflowers challenge.
I painted this one from one of my own photos
taken on my road trip this year.
Although the wildflowers are seemingly the stars of this scene,
I was taken by the rickety old fence around the pasture.

Summer Wildflowers

Painted for DPW Wildflowers Challenge".
Loved this challenge and the photo
because it reminded me of so many of the beautiful places
I saw while traveling this summer.

Summer Pasture

A plein air painting
of a pasture with rolled bales of hay
with wildflowers growing up around them.
I painted this while on a summer roadtrip.
Some scenes are too lovely to pass up.
I had to stop and paint this one.

$35.

Bluebonnets

A spring morning in Texas,
the bright green leaves on the trees
and patches of  lovely bluebonnet wildflowers
against the misty purple hills.
 I like the road,
which suggests that this pretty landscape
 is somebodies ranch home.
Lucky them!

8" x 10"  oil on canvas panel

Field of Yellow Mustard

This is a scene painted of a nursery near where I live.
The owner has sown some of his fields
with yellow mustard, which has started to bloom.
This is such a spectacular scene
with the cascade foothills and evergreen trees in the background,
that I had to paint it.
I love these bright sunny wildflowers
and often fill a vase with their loveliness.

$35.

High Desert Morning

Another plein air painting of the high desert of Central Oregon
where I began my roadtrip this year.
I was particularly fascinated with the pastel colors
produced by the morning atmosphere, flowers,
and natural coloring of the landscape.

Spring Storm in the Tetons

Painted this from a photo I took while in Western Wyoming,
one of my favorite places. The Tetons Rockies are amazing in spring.
But beautiful and majestic in all seasons.

Oregon Wetlands Wildflowers

I found painting this photo a nice change of pace
from all the snowy landscapes and wintery conditions
this time of year.

Fishin' With Grandpa

A little whimsical painting done for DPW's "Superstition" challenge.
Grandpa is wearing his lucky hat to ensure a good catch.
I actually took a photo of these two fishing in a lake in
Grand Mesa National Forest, Colorado.
Such a great scene, grandpa and grandson fishing in blue lawn chairs,
surrounded by a forest of wildflowers, with a pale blue lake as a backdrop.

6"x6" acrylic on linen paper

$125.
