Garden Scents

Okay, I painted these Forget-Me-Nots and Peonies for Dana Marie's Rendition Me This challenge.
This is her new challenge blog and the first challenge is entitled Garden Scents.
The painting she posted is of large and small flowers.
So I did this painting with that idea, but  used my own flowers.

Winter's Sunset Field

I enjoyed painting this for Dana Marie's Artistic Sentiments
challenge. She is one of the few artists that frequently posts
landscapes instead of still lifes, which I appreciate.
This particular landscape offered the challenge
of the purple shadows and golden light of sunset
on the bare trees, bushes and grasses.
Another beautiful Oregon landscape.
(She has introduced another challenge blog called Rendition Me This,
where the challenge is to paint in another artists style.)

Roses on Antique Linen

I originally began this painting for DPW's White on White challenge
presented by Ann Feldman. But somewhere in the process of the painting,
the muse took over ,and the white roses and white bowl took on the color you see.
I liked it better this way and decided to keep it this way.
She did allow about 15% color, but I think this exceeds that number...

Oregon Wetlands Wildflowers

Painted for Dana Marie's Artistic Sentiments
Wetland Wildflower Challenge.
I found painting this photo a nice change of pace
from all the snowy landscapes and wintery conditions
this time of year.

Waiting and Watching!

I painted this for DPW's challenge this week,
which is to incorporate the wonderful color
called "Tangerine Tango" (the color of the year) in the painting.

For some time now,
I've wanted to paint a child,
anticipating the return from war,
of her father.
This challenge was a perfect opportunity.
So I dressed this little girl,
who is anxiously waiting at the window'
for her father's homecoming,
in a bright "Tangerine Tango" sweater.

Rogue River

The Rogue River in southwestern Oregon,
is a wild and very scenic river
which is noted for its white water rafting
and old mail boats which used to deliver mail,
but now just take tourists on excursions
down this beautiful river.

I painted this from one of the photos I took
when traveling in this part of my wonderful state,
because it depicts the rugged shoreline and
the glorious blue green water, and wild white water rapids.

In Case of Fire!

Painted for Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout Challenge.
When I saw this bright red fire plug
sticking out of a snow drift,
I knew I wanted to paint it for the
Breckenridge, Colorado street view challenge.

Ice in the Sky

Another painting of the high desert of Central Oregon,
painted from a photo I took while traveling there.
The title comes from the unusual clouds
that are formed from ice crystals.
