Dancing in Sunshine and Rainbows

The idea behind this painting
is what inspires a child's imagination.
This little barefoot girl,
is pretending she is dancing on the clouds.
Her steps produce raindrops in the sunshine
and the colors reflect off the clouds.
The image is all pastel shades
therefore the values are very similar,
which unfortunately (in the photo)
doesn't come across as pure and crisp
and full of light, as they are in the painting.
They also appear a bit darker and with faint lines.
Click on the image for a truer idea of what the painting looks like.

Goldfinch in Crabapple Bush

There is a lovely crabapple bush that grows near the birdfeeder,
where goldfinches, red house finches and several other
pretty little birds often sit among the bright pink spring blossoms.

Spring Zepher

Coneflowers always remind me of little umbrellas.
So when I saw a spent blossom being lifted by a breeze,
I imagined that if it was a coneflower
it might just lift up and away.
This thought gave rise to this whimsical painting.

Tulip in Glass Bottle

A tulip with a fringe of pale yellow edging
on it's pink and orange petals, rests in a glass bottle.
Painted for DPW 'timed' challenge.

Tulip Dance

Painted for DPW's Rite of Spring challenge,
where the example from the host was somewhat abstracted.
So I decided to use up my palette (from my first entry)
and lay down the colors - this what evolved.
It was fast and kind of fun, something I might try again.

A spring morning in Texas,
the bright green leaves on the trees
and patches of  lovely bluebonnet wildflowers
against the misty purple hills.
 I like the road,
which suggests that this pretty landscape
 is somebodies ranch home.
Lucky them!
