Sunflower Ranch Road

Bright cheery sunflowers greet the person entering this ranch,
where black angus cattle graze peacefully
beneath the distant Cascade foothills.

Field of Yellow Mustard

This is a scene painted of a nursery near where I live.
The owner has sown some of his fields
with yellow mustard, which has started to bloom.
This is such a spectacular scene
with the cascade foothills and evergreen trees in the background,
that I had to paint it.
I love these bright sunny wildflowers
and often fill a vase with their loveliness.

Conch Shell

The beautiful golden conch shell
is just one of many treasures from the sea
that float up onto the surface of the turquoise waters
and eventually finds its way to the shore.

(Not sure why, but the blue in this painting registers as a cobalt,
when it is actually a beautiful phthalo turquoise. I will try
to correct this if I can)

Daffodils on Windowsill

Daffodils, newly picked from the garden,
sit on a windowsill in a clear glass vase,
framed by sheer lacey curtains.
Their bright yellow color brings a little sunshine
 and spring into the house.
This is another redo or I should say,
completion of a painting I did recently.

On the Other Hand Experiment

Painted for DPW "On the other hand" challenge.
Used my left hand (non-dominate) to 'paint' this.
Learned that I would need lots more practice
if I were to continue painting left-handed.
And it is hard to keep the right hand from wanting to participate.
Liked the photo of the still life setting offered
by Diane Mannion for this challenge.

Freesias with Yellow Ribbon

This is a redo of "Freesias" (see below).
Originally I wanted to paint the yellow ribbon around the sack,
 then changed my mind.
I had imagined a pot of freesias inside the sack,
maybe a gift for someone. So, to me, it never looked finished or right.
So I redid the painting by adding the ribbon.
Now I am happy with it.

Bluebird with Blossom

A harbinger of Spring,  a pretty Bluebird in a pear tree,
filled with spring blossoms, and bathed in golden sunlight.
Is the blossom she has in her beak,
something she likes to eat, or something lovely for her nest?

Freesias

Painted for DPW 'Paper Sack" challenge.
I know, a sack should have had enough interest of itself,
but I couldn't help adding the pretty orange freesias.
I imagine they were just purchased
and brought home in this brown paper sack.

Elements

Painted for DPW's the "flying spirit" challenge.
The spirit of this duck is expressed in the elements important in his life,
of water and wind, a subject that I have painted before.

Wild Roses

I love wild roses.
When traveling through Alberta, Canada a few years ago,
I saw many wildflowers including lovely pale pink wild roses
which I took several pictures of.
(I learned they are Alberta's provincial flower.)
I wanted to paint them as I am doing flower paintings right now.
Decided not to place them in a vase,
but leave them on the bush as wild as they are.
This painting can be displayed vertically or horizontally.
