Morning Glory

My tube of Cadmium orange was the inspiration
for this painting. It is a color I rarely use,
but decided to try out its rich vibrancy more often.
This is the second in a series of art with words
as part of the composition. (Not sure how many I will paint).
Entered this one in Dana Marie's Rendition Me This challenge
entitled "Dreams and Wishes".
The saying is a quote from Paul Gaugin. It says:
"Seek art in nature by dreaming in the presence of it."

for us to grow in wisdom!"

Four Calling Birds

What do you do if you miss the deadline of one challenge?
You revise a bit and enter it in another challenge.
I originally intended this painting for Dana Marie's Artistic Sentiments challenge,
but missed the deadline, so I added a fourth bird and entered it
into DPW's Twelve days of Christmas challenge.

Diablo Lake

This is a plein air sketch I did this summer, of a little inlet on Diablo lake.
My camp was just to the right in this beautiful forest
in the North Cascades Nat. Park, WA.
The lake is used by a lot of kayakers and canoeists.
It is a lovely opaque turquoise blue
caused by the grit brought down from the mts.
by the glacial runoff.

Fishing on the Clackamas River

I live near the Clackamas River and often see fishermen
in drift boats or standing in waders in the cold river.
Frequently the weather is gray and rainy
as it was this day, when I spotted a guy
totally caught up in his sport,
while his dog watched the fish jumping behind him.

November's Bounty

When traveling through the countryside of Washington state,
I frequently came across tables, baskets and boxes
of various types of produce set out at the entrance of the farm drive.
An honor box and sign with the cost were provided
so that passers-by could stop and make a purchase.

Ginger's Garden

This is another painting I did while traveling this summer.
Don't know the name of them, but the lovely pink flowers
were a frequent sight in the beautiful gardens in Anacortes, WA.

The Blue Bicycle

I saw this quaint little scene while traveling this summer in Northern WA.
I stopped and painted a quick plein air sketch. I think these little
scenes are gifts from the muses.

Chickadee in Apple Tree

Much of my summer travels was in the state of Washington
where they have many apple orchards.
This painting is a homage to the many yummy apples
I sampled while motoring and painting plein air.

Tranquil Morning

A transparent winged dragonfly sits on a
windswept vine of delicate blossoms,
against a golden-pink sunrise.

Painted for Dana Marie's Rendition Me This
Tranquil Journey challenge.
I am enjoying her challenges because they push me
in a different direction in my painting,
one that I find very interesting.

I also entered this painting in DPW's "Insect" challenge.
I was surprised and happy to see the theme fit this work,
as I haven't had much time to paint since I am leaving soon
on an extended road trip (see post below).

Road Trip

I will be going on an extended road trip through the western US, to take photos, painting plein air, and just visiting wonderful places. I will be taking my laptop with me, so that I can post; and check my blog and email occasionally -  whenever I am in a hotspot.

Paintings may still  be purchased through Paypal, but please allow up to 6 weeks for delivery.

The Spotted Teapot

Painted for DPW's "Polka Dot" challenge.
A brightly colored painting (after Josephine Trotter)
sets a blue spotted teapot and lively pears
on waves of tablecloth against vivid blue wall.

In following her style, I particularly liked her use of
primary colors and her compositional movement.
