Little Miss Sunshine 2

Painted for DPW's "Simplify Challenge".
The challenge was to take a busy photograph
and simplify it.
(This is a redo - I worked on the face a little, especially the eyes.
I was never happy with the face, so for better or worse, this is her new look.)

Window Shopping in the French Quarter

Painted for Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout New Orleans challenge.

I liked this view of a couple tentatively peering into a shop door,
curious but not quite sure if they want to enter.
It was dark inside and looked very much like a Santeria or Voodoo Shop,
so maybe that was why they were both curious and hesitant.

The Garden Nook

Sunflowers, hollyhocks, nasturtiums, lupins, and other pretty flowers make up her 'secret garden' nook. This painting was patterned after a real spot in the garden. I added the stone bench, more flowers and the young girl reading her favorite book.
