I chose to paint a slice of cherry cheesecake,

one of my favorite treats.

I worked this mostly with a palette knife.

Painted for Bill Guffey's Virtual Paint Out in Scotland.

This hiking trail, that leads to Edinburg, Scotland,

is bordered with wild flowers along the path.

The city nestles in the valley below.

Snow at the Seacoast

 

Occasionally it snows on the Oregon beaches.

A white blanket covers the coast,

where the mountains and fir trees meet the sandy beaches,

and sea grass pokes up through the snow.

Such a lovely sight...

Blue Teacup and Sweetpeas

Red Barn in Winter

 

 

Painted from a scene on our property just after a snowfall,

of the red barn and outbuilding against a stand of fir trees and maples.

There is a small creek which is frozen now which runs behind the buildings.

A lone fir tree stands in the foreground .

After the Storm

 

Painted for DPW's storm challenge.

I particularly like the layers of detail in the landscape,

and the wonderful after-the-storm light

in the challenge photo​.

A small surprise was the house hidden in the trees.

White Rose Edged in Pink

 

 

 

Another rose painted for DPW's "Another Rose" challenge.

I've always found this kind of rose very pretty and interesting,

but a challenge to paint. 

Just to switch things up a bit, I used a brush

but mostly a palette knife to achieve the impasto look in the rose,

and the scraped look in the background.
